Earth Spike

This is your bread-and-butter damage/stun stun ability. This is very similar to Nyx Assassin’s Impale. The major difference is that Impale is a point target but Earth Spike is a unit target. With Impale, you have to predict the enemy’s movement and stun them but with Earth Spike, you can simply click on the enemy and they will get stunned even if they move.

Upgrades:

• Talent Tree:Add +65 damage at level 10, make Earth Spike affect a 30-degree cone (3 spikes instead of one) at level 20, and increase the range of this spell by +600 at level 25.

Hex

A strong disable spell that turns an enemy into a harmless critter. The enemy cannot attack or use any items or abilities and moves very slowly. Hex is one of the most powerful disables in the game and Lion and Shadow Shaman have them right from level 1.

Upgrades:

• Talent Tree:Reduce the cooldown by -2 secs at level 15 and make this spell a +250 AOE ability at level 25 (meaning, you can disable multiple enemies within 250 AOE.)

Mana Drain

A good ability to spam, especially during the laning phase. This spell continuously steals the mana of the enemy and fills up your mana bar. Spamming this ability and stealing enough mana means that your enemies cannot use their spells.

This is a channeling spell, meaning if you move, get stunned, or are disabled, the spell gets canceled.

Upgrades:

1. Facet:If you take the Essence Eater facet during the picking phase, this ability will also deal damage equal to 100% of the mana stolen.
2. Aghanim’s Shard:This will allow you to target up to two more additional enemies with mana drain and also increase the spell’s distance. Lion also gains debuff immunity with 60% magic resistance while using this.
3. Talent Tree:At level 10, you can add +10% movement speed slow to the enemy when using Mana Drain.

Finger of Death

One of the most dangerous spells in the entire game. Finger of Death and Lina’s Laguna Blade are known to be the highest damage-dealing spells in Dota 2.

This is a simple unit-target ability that deals massive magical damage. For every successful kill with this ability, you add +40 damage to this spell.

Upgrades:

1. Aghanim’s Scepter:Increases the damage, decreases the cooldown, and makes this a 325 AOE spell, meaning you can hit multiple enemies.
2. Talent Tree:You get +70 maximum health per kill with this ability at level 15 and increase the bonus damage by an additional +20 per kill at level 20.
3. Facet:If you chose the facet Fist of Death, this changes the ultimate ability quite a bit. After using the ultimate, Lion becomes a melee hero with bonus damage and cleave for 20 seconds. Any enemy hero killed within 3 seconds of being punched will also add +40 magic damage to your ultimate.
